MaryHurst University Online was founded in 1893 in Portland, Oregon and was known as St. Mary’s Academy and College. The university is one of the oldest Catholic universities in Oregon. In 1996, Marylhurst University Online became one of the first universities to offer online courses. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities accredits Marylhurst University Online. The business and real estate studies programs have received specialized accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IABE), which is dedicated to improving student learning through outcomes assessment.
